Fractional beauty lasts not too far. You can always find numbers that your base does not divide by. With decimals, you can represent any number to any accuracy..And after all Base 12 or 16 would not help the English system but only make it even more convoluted! Base 12 is useful for inch-foot conversion only. For merely all other conversions it& ,s useless! Same for base 16, which is useful maybe for oz-pound conversion, but an even greater nightmare for everything else!.Manage is the right

The International System of Units, abbreviated SI (for the French name Syst me International d& ,Unites), is the most widely used system of units. Along with the older cgs (centimetre, gram, second) system, SI is commonly called the metric system. The metric system can legally be used in every country in the world (including the United States), and in many countries its use is obligatory. Those countries that still give official recognition to non-SI units (e.g. US, UK) also define those units

Becomes 0.133. The format tends to be used when the figure gets longer so E+09 or E-09 cuts out a lot of noughts. Example - Task How many sq.rods in 10 acres. From the tables 1 acre = 160 sq.rods, so.10 acres x 160 = 1600 sq.rods When you want to reverse the conversion, divide by the factor viz. 1600 sq.rods 160 = 10 acres.Remember that you cannot create energy only convert it. Likewise, you will not find a conversion from pounds to metres - the basic units must remain the same - mass converted
