General information, some statistical data and links.
Exists on other bodies in our solar system, it seem to be likely that there probably life elsewhere in our galaxy. There are good arguments on both sides of that issue, however, the only things most scientists agree upon are that we just don t know and that more evidence is needed..

Views of the Solar System: Sun

Pictures, animations, general information and data.
Sunspots are curious dark spots on the solar disk that are concentrations of strong magnetic fields that block upwelling gas from the solar interior. This produces darker, cooler regions on the Sun. A large sunspot consists of a dark umbra that is the coolest region with brighter penumbra along the outer edges. The images show the penumbra consists of thin, long filaments. The penumbra is in constant motion with gas flows along the filaments. Sunspot Group This image of the whole solar disk

The Virtual Sun

Posted on 10th February, 2012 by Chaz

Virtual tour of the sun which uses images, diagrams, and movies to illustrate subjects such as solar wind, solar flares, the solar surface and sunspots.
Of this journey is about 20 minutes. It shows spectacular images and MPEG animations of solar flares, sun spots, magnetic fields and solar eclipses, and explains a lot about the science of the sun and the influence it has on the solar system..
